Mineral Extraction and Waste Management Vibration Surveys

Vibration Surveys for Mineral Extraction and Waste Management Sites

Minerals Workings and Waste Management Vibration

The primary cause of ground vibration on surface mineral extraction sites is blasting. Blasting in hard rock quarries is needed to facilitate the extraction of material which cannot be removed using mechanical equipment. Specific criterion for blast-induced vibration is contained within British Standard 6472-2:2008 ‘Guide to evaluation of human exposure to vibration in buildings’. Part 2: Blast-induced vibration’.

Our experienced consultants have extensive knowledge in providing  the following services:

  • Measurement and assessment of ground-borne vibration and air overpressure from blasting
  • Measurement and assessment of vibration from HGV traffic and railway movements

IEC is a multi-disciplinary consultancy and can also carry out noise and air quality assessments, as well as whole-body vibration (WBV) exposure assessments for site personnel.
